About the position
We currently have a vacancy for a Software Tester to ensure software operates to specification, either manually or using regression scripts, automated and manual.
Main Responsibilities
- Design of high quality Product tests from requirements specifications and other design documents
- Production / modification of Product test specifications to enable high quality testing to prove that functionality under test meets the specified requirements, is consistent and user friendly
- Performing testing of software from formal test scripts on formally built software extracted from PVCS
- Performing documented ad hoc informal testing based on knowledge of the application, its use and the requirements
- Running, updating and creating automated test scripts.
- Identification / recording of faults, installation and release issues found during test
- Documenting steps for testing of fault fixes and Helpdesk fixes and signing faults off
- Analysing of results of completed test run and assessment of rerun requirement
- Liaising with developers in the analysis and correction of fault fixes
- Review of development design documentation
- Providing honest assessment of progress of current tasks to his / her supervisor as requested
- Ensuring supervisor is informed immediately of any issues that may jeopardise the delivery of a task within the previously agreed time scale
- Contribute to the estimation of test specification and execution tasks
- Work with developers to minimise testing required
- Responsibility / ownership of all work produced
- Adherence to agreed company procedures, standards and guidelines
- Ensure adherence to our documented Quality Management System in all tasks associated with this role
Skills / Experience
- Knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
- Experience of testing VB6 and .NET applications; working with Crystal reports
- Experience of automated testing
- PLSQL and a working knowledge of querying Oracle databases is essential
- Familiarity with MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel); Windows XP, 2000, Vista and Server 2003
- Awareness of the quality requirements on Projects (e.g. ISO9001:2000; Requirements traceability and Fault tracking to resolution)
- At least a 2:2 degree in a relevant I.T. discipline or experience in software testing
- ISEB Foundation Certification is desirable
- Experience of Agile Methodology is desirable
- Experience within the Life Sciences arena would be beneficial
