Instem and Lilly Form Software Agreement For Automated Toxicology Reporting System

May 2000

Instem, the leader in toxicology and pathology computing solutions, announced today that they have entered into an agreement with Eli Lilly and Company to offer integrated software solutions for toxicology and pathology reporting applications.

Lilly will purchase Instem's market leading Provantis NT Pathology, Protocol and Systems, and Protocol and Report Assembly (P&RA) software for use in its drug development programs. Provantis NT provides needed technical support to enhance the data collection process used in toxicology programs. The software assists users with automating, streamlining and validating the data collection process for the pre-clinical development phase of novel pharmaceutical compounds.

Lilly and Instem will also work together in the development of future generations of this leading software, initially focusing on a new Study Management and Tracking solution. Both companies will benefit from this collaborative effort designed to promote shared learning between the organizations.

Protocol & Report Assembly (P&RA), a key component of Instem's reporting solution provides both the automations tools, and the security framework necessary for truly automated report generation. Automated generation of study protocols and reports within the secure environment maintains data integrity and eliminates redundancies.

"The pharmaceutical industry is continuously utilizing new technologies to improve and streamline the drug discovery and development process," said John Anderson-Carter Vice President of Instem Consulting. "The software we have developed has substantially advanced automated reporting processes and we are pleased that Lilly has clearly recognized this value."
